We Teach, They Baptize

November 26, 2017

Hello Everyone!

This week was a pretty awesome week. This week was the last full week for my trainer before she returns to her home. She has been the hardest worker to the end of her mission! Her mom is so excited for her to come home!

Last P-day we were able to go to a Senior couples house and have a little Thanksgiving dinner. It was cool to see some missionaries and talk about what we are grateful for. It was a little different Thanksgiving with the food being unlike the usual. We had to Asian style it. haah

This week for family home evening, we had the opportunity to watch 17 miracles. Thankfully it was in English with some Viet Subtitles. It was great to watch the sacrifices people made so we can have the gospel. Very cool! We have a great heritage.

To end the week, we were able to have a baptism. Chị. Dương was able to be baptized and it was a very cool experience. We met her at English class and at first she was not interested, but then in our spiritual thought we talked about the Book of Mormon. She was really interested in that and started learning. She read the Book of Mormon soo much, way farther than me. haha.

One miracle we had this week was we were able to visit a less active named Ngọc Thanh. We were able to share a message of the love Christ has for her and she can turn to him in times of need through prayer. This Sunday she came to church! It had been a long time since she had come. So cool too because she brought her family. Always keep inviting.

This week we got transfer announcements. I am staying where I am here in Quận Sáu! I am getting 2 new companions. One is from an area in the south already and has been here for about as long as I have and the other one is from the MTC. SOS I am training!!! ahhhhh. At least I get to do it with someone. The Lord knows the path and the way the mission needs to go, but I get to stay in Quận sáu for 3 more months!!! Wahoooo!

Hello Everyone,

This week was great. We got to end it off with another baptism from the Elders. They had 3 baptism. Very cool stories. One of the people was a relative to one of the elders and the man and boy are family and were introduced by his daughter who studies at BYU Hawaii. Very cool. They are all great people.

This week went by so fast, maybe because we were very busy with lots of things. We met with our investigator 3 times this week as she prepares for her baptism soon. We have been having to teach her all the lessons before her baptism. We are excited for her!

This week we met up with my companion's grandparents who came to Vietnam to go to their hometown. They took us to go get phở, which was very good. They are very funny people and very nice.

This week we flew up to Hanoi on Friday and came back to Sài Gòn on Saturday. It was very tiring. We were able to teach lessons and I finally understood a ton more. The language of Vietnamese has many different dialects. I am trying to speak Northern (Hanoi) but I am in the South... with all the southern speakers (Sài Gòn). The exchange was a very good learning experience and I loved meeting the other Sisters. I learned I CAN teach a lesson if my almost native companion is not there to help me. We defiantly were able to learn about the gift of interpreting tongues.

Also last p-day we went to the markets. This is like a very big store all crammed into one building. We bought some souvenirs.

That's it from me!

Hello everyone! Hope Everyone is good! This week has been amazing!

First we had our last lesson with our investigator who got baptized yesterday!! She has been so excited to be baptized and sooo ready! Her name is Chị Phúc! She was introduced to the church through her fiance in Canada.(which is normal for people to find their spouse not in Vietnam). Funny thing, we tried to Skype with him but the WiFi connection on the Ground floor was not good so he saw right before and right after she got baptized. She felt sooo good after her baptism.

Also this week we had our big English Event. It was called "An Airport Adventure". So the churches here have a lot of different levels. So for the students to climb the levels they went through and airport. It turned out sooo good! I was on the flight part of the airport because they thought only females were fight attendants! haha. It was sooo much fun and we had the greatest turnout. Usually we get 18-20 students between the three classes, but this time we had 50. Sooo much fun!

This week we took a long bike ride to visit a less active family. When we got there they were eating lunch. We were trying to meet with a lady named Chị Diêm but as soon as we got there she left to take her daughter to school. It was an inconvenience. It is ok. We will just go back this week. haha.

Sorry Kinda short.... Same thing each day. haha Missionary life!

Xin Chao:

Hope every one's week was great! These past 2 weeks have gone by really fast and that is good! We are always staying busy with teaching and other missionary things.

Last Monday some of the Sister's go together at the Senior couples house (apartment) to learn how to cook some food. We cooked a white sauce with a ton of milk (I don't drink milk). It was fun to see the Sisters. There are not very many of them.

Wednesday we have zone conference. Elder Merus from the Seventy came and trained us all day. We talked more about using the members and teaching more repentance and baptizing converts. It was great to hear from an apostle of the Lord. Also we had a question and answer session and one question was about mission presidents. He said "It is a long process... but probably right now your next mission president has already been talked to". That sounds so crazy that he has already probably gotten talked to. ahhhh

Funny thing that happened this week was we were teaching a sister named Chi Trinh. We were talking about reading the book of Mormon. We asked her, "Where are you in the book of Mormon" she replied "Nephi" we said "what are you learning" She said "Nephi". We were all laughing sooo hard.

This week we taught a record of 6 lesson to our Investigators! We teach one through Skype and then the rest in person. They are great! We keep talking to them about baptism...

Also last night we went to the mall and contacted. We have a bigger English class event happening on Tuesday. We went to invite people to the event and get the word out.

Sorry not a lot happened this week really.
